Here’s what some of our visitors have to say about their experience at Camp Brotherhood:

“The first attraction of Camp Brotherhood for the visitors was its natural beauty. Tucked away in a cozy corner of lush green forest and kept at a safe distance from the beaten path is the delightful little valley holding the precious grounds. The farms and fields in the picturesque piece of heaven, 200 generous acres of them in all, gently roll down to meet a foothill at the far side and form the line for keeping the outside world from peeking in. The tree-covered hill at the far side stands just tall enough to guard the hidden jewel but falls shy of limiting the big skies or blocking the liberating expanses extending to the distant horizons. “Just like the green little valleys in our Swat region,” said an awe-struck Pakistani visitor. “This is greener and peaceful,” added the Afghan visitor familiar with the Pashtoon areas in Pakistan. Camp Brotherhood is cute enough to cause love-at-first-sight but it holds far more than what meets the eye.

The warm welcome, spirited discussions, informative presentations and gracious hospitality, soon overshadowed all else and immersed the visitors in an environment of learning and exploring the vast field of knowledge about alternatives to violence. An afternoon of workshop and role-playing put the visitors in some dramatized situations of charged conflicts and then allowed them to practice the art of steering away from angry confrontation. During a delicious dinner of salmon and many other delicacies, a bald eagle flew over the fields for all to watch, as if ordered for the occasion. It got everyone talking about the good luck it brings with it. Listening to a Native American Chief speak about the ways of his people, capped the unforgettable day while the sun was hiding and the valley getting sleepy.

When a 9-hour day runs past 11 hours and the visitors still cannot tear themselves away from the hosts, you know that you are witnessing an extraordinary encounter. Camp Brotherhood delivered again and did it even better this time.”

“May God bless you and your camp for the kindness you have shown us. May He continue to use Camp Brotherhood as a refuge and place of rest, training and spiritual growth and refreshment for weary souls.” — CTI

“Thank you for your wonderful kindness and hospitality – it seems to be a trademark of Camp Brotherhood. We were pleased to be able to speak Spanish with you!” — VJ

“This was our 3rd year to hold our spiritual retreat at your facility and we just wanted to let you know what a wonderful experience it was. As usual, your staff was terrific…The all went out of their way to see that our stay was flawless. And of course the facility itself is so wonderful. (Our leader) really enjoyed the new cabin. It was set off enough so that she had her privacy and quiet and it was tastefully decorated. We all enjoyed the Chapel on Sunday morning. It was so beautiful and was such a spiritual place to end our wonderful weekend. We reserved our time for next year and are already looking forward to and planning for it. Thank you again for providing this wonderful place for us to gather and renew ourselves.” — SM

(We) recently used Camp Brotherhood for a retreat. The facility is incredible. The beauty of the surroundings and the sense of peace that permeates the facility make it a unique meeting place. This is not the first time we have used the camp nor will it be the last. I hope however, in your plans to expand that you take into consideration that this place is like no others and for that reason, we continue to use it for many County functions. The people you choose to staff the facility are outstanding and are in part responsible for the exceptional experience Camp Brotherhood offers.” — PB

“I would like to thank you for helping to provide a wonderful experience for this year’s Teen Camp. Over 120 young people participated in the teen program at Camp Brotherhood this year, and were given the opportunity to relax, play, meet new people and be educated all in a beautiful setting…I would especially like to thank all of your staff for all of the support you gave us. To the kitchen staff – the food was wonderful! Definitely not what I remember as “camp food” … Thank you for your flexibility and friendliness … It is obvious to me now why we keep coming back!” — JD
